Hi, I’m Robin and I’m happy to say I am one of the youth workers here at the Horbury Breakthrough Youth Project.
Previously, I have spent over 4 years dedicating myself to being an outdoor activity instructor, which has given me instructing skills in a wide variety of sports such as climbing, archery, fencing, water sports and bushcraft (just to name a few). And if you are ever curious about any of these, let’s have a chat and see how I can help you out! On another note, being outside and helping young people build confidence through adventure and pushing their comfort zone is something I really care about and is something I am hoping to promote within the Breakthrough Project.
I’m originally from Germany and moved to the UK in 2012, so I know what it feels like to be in a new place. I also remember accessing projects similar to what we have established here, and that is why I want to give back to my community and give others the same opportunities that were given to me.
Outside of work, I love to cook and try out new recipes. I'm always looking for new things to make and new flavours to explore. I’m also a big fan of travelling. The photo of me on the website was actually taken on the set of Lord of the Rings in New Zealand, which is only about 30 minutes from where my family lives now. It was a bit of a dream moment and reminded me just how exciting the world can be when you get out there and explore it.
At home, I’ve got two rabbits who definitely keep me on my toes. I’m really happy to be working as part of such a kind and passionate team, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.
